60s%20Party

Feature image

I love a theme party, and when my friend who was born in the 60s was turning 40, we decided it was time to have a really, really good party. We kept the 60s as our theme and it was groovy and delicious. Although it was a 60s party, and we all learned to dance in the 70s, the music was 70s inspired. We used some wonderful icons of the 60s; macramé drapery and curtains and glittery vases. On lots of old fashioned televisions we were able to screen James Bond movies from the 60s. We also hung Mylar curtains. It really was fun.

Because I love to have a drop dead gorgeous opening act, we had a beautiful model, a la Goldfinger, who was painted in gold, as the centerpiece of the seafood buffet. Afterwards we served a real fun supper of 1960s favorites; chicken a la king, calamari, and chicken potpie. We really had a good dinner. And all of our guests, decked out in 60s attire, added to the fun.

We later took ourselves to the dance floor where we had the most amazing time. A psychedelic pattern was painted on the dance floor, a couple mirror balls suspended, some lava lights, and beautiful big loungey beds added the right touches. The beat of the music, a mix of the 60s and 70s, and the scantily clad go-go dancers took it totally over the top. I must say it was one of those parties that didn’t end until the sun came up and cast a glow on the Statue of Liberty in the background. Another great night from which it took at least two days to recover.
