New%20Year%27s%20Eve%20Decor

New Year’s Eve means glamour and glitter – from the tabletop to the mantle and even the bar – so choose a color scheme that compliments this once-a-year celebratory mood. For this year’s party, I pulled out all the stops and worked with not just one or two, but three bold metallics: gold, bronze, and copper. The play in colors added a romantic glow to the room, letting the guests shimmer and shine before they even uttered a single word!

I also took advantage of the space on the mantle as part of my overall decorating scheme. Working with gilded obelisks, additional candleholders, and copper pillars of different sizes and heights, helped me create a beautiful candlescape that gave the room dimension and a sexy glow (which was reflected and amplified two-and-a-half times across the room in the starburst mirror right above the mantle).

For the table itself, I created an elegant, sexy statement by playing with these very same metallics: a bronze tablecloth and runner mixed with gold chargers, plates, and flatware. The silk napkins were also gold, as were the napkin rings from my ultra-favorite catalogue, Vivre. I added one bronze wine glass to each place setting, and copper and gold candles added additional luster to my shimmering metallic mix. An extra over-the-top touch? Centerpieces made up of tall gold containers filled with glitter-dipped manzanita branches scattered lightly, with a few leftover Christmas ornaments!
