| Elena ColumboWe’ve all heard the saying, “it’s a small world,” and my meeting Elena is one of those stories. While traveling on business in Napa Valley, scouting party sites, I had the pleasure of visiting the Paul Hobbs winery, Probably the most tasteful contemporary architectural installations in napa valley; it’s a minimalist, cement and glass installation, surrounded by manicured vineyards - I was blown away by the elegance of it all. While touring the winery, I noticed several fire and water sculptural installations that were stunning, über fabulous, beyond anything I’ve ever seen. I had to know more about the artist and set my assistant on a discovery mission. Not 24 hours later I was back in New York having dinner with a friend and he handed me a brochure of an artist he just met. What are the chances they’d be one and the same? Needless to say, Elena and I connected via telephone immediately. I love her work and can’t wait to find a project for us to collaborate on.
Tips from Elena.
- Entertain around the fire, your house will be where all your friends want to go.
- Fire is like jewelry for your landscape.
- Use natural gas for heating and cooking – it’s the cleanest combustion.
- burn your old junk on the solstices and equinoxes – burning is purification.
- Teach your kids how to build a fire (that stays lit) with only one match or learn to yourself.
- Make-out on a soft rug in front of the fire.
- Don’t throw your cocktail into a fire – finish it.
