Shortcrust pastry is used to make Apple Tarte Tatin and Apple Pie.
Ingredients- 1/2 cup softened butter (1 stick)
- 1/3 cup superfine sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 dashes salt
Instructions1. In a medium bowl, cream the butter with the sugar. Add the egg and beat well. Add the flour and salt and beat until a smooth dough is formed.
2. Lightly knead on a floured board until the dough is elastic and smooth. Pat into a disc, wrap in plastic and chill at least 2 hours or freeze as long as 2 weeks.
