This position requires an experienced individual to procure business and manage the event planning and production of catered events so that they are flawlessly planned and executed within budget.

The Catering Director is responsible for developing client relationships, nurturing and procuring new clients and coordinating catered events once a party/event is contracted. This individual will arrange for a venue (when necessary), negotiate contracts, guide and propose food and beverage selections, schedule staff, arrange for transportation and order the necessary equipment. This position is responsible for selling and producing the event (developing the production plan, identifying the critical path, negotiating with and managing vendors, controlling costs) and managing/executing the plan to successful conclusion.

  • Manage and coordinate all of the sourcing/research of the event
  • Manage the profitability of the event and aim to exceed company guidelines on profit margins
  • Manage and coordinate the day-of event requirements
  • Generate BEO’s, beverage, staffing, rental floor plans and detailed specifications on service and execution using standard company templates in a timely manner
  • Manage and coordinate the set up and arrival of all staff on the day of the event to ensure all activities happen as planned and on time
  • Keep current on relevant trends (food, beverage, design, products, fashion, technology) and keep technology skills up to date
  • Manage the administrative aspects of every event including maintaining client files, collecting and managing proposals, negotiating with vendors, setting up vendors for payment, requesting payment, maintaining the budget vs. actual numbers for the event, reconciling credit card statements, ensuring all receipts are available for client billing, updating rental and staff orders, managing staff hours to budget and performance requirements
  • Work within the budget established by the client

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communication, art and design or related work experience plus 3 to 5 years experience in off premise event catering.
