UBUNTU GALA 2018

ABOUT THIS EVENT

The Ubuntu gala was held at Gotham Hall in NYC, catered by Great Performances. Guests enjoyed a dinner inspired by traditional South African cuisine, with entertainment by Bongi Duma and Friends as well as Gedeon Luke & the People.

Bongi Duma and Friends’ tribute to the late Hugh Masekela, a world-renowned South African trumpeter and a dear friend of the Ubuntu Organization, were highlights of the evening as guests enjoyed mouthwatering meals and stunning African-inspired décor elements.

The décor was greatly influenced by elements from the actual Ubuntu Pathways Center, following a trip the CCL team made to the center last November. Items such as red bricks, cinderblocks, bromeliad and succulents filled the tables – bricks and cinderblocks to symbolize the building of the center itself, and succulents to mimic the Ubuntu garden.
