Without a doubt, one of the most extraordinary events of my career was Oprah Winfrey’s Legends Ball, a three day celebration honoring 20 legendary Black women and 40 women following in their footsteps.
To preserve the memories and prepare a gift for @oprah, I commissioned artist @Michael_Beneville to create three magnificent leather bound interactive albums, one for each day, filled with photographs, menus, cocktail napkins, and elaborate paper engineering to capture these unforgettable moments. Each volume was eight inches thick and jam packed with memories.
After a year of work, I flew to Chicago to present them to Oprah. With tears in her eyes, she turned to her assistant and said, “This goes to the Smithsonian.”
A moment I will treasure forever... the greatest gift I ever given.✨

Without doubt the most important event I ever did was Oprah Winfreys Legends Ball. Oprah chose to honor the 20 living Black female legends who paved the way in art, music, civil service and culture. Along with the up and coming 40 youngins`. A weekend of events starting with legends luncheon, the white tie Saturday night Legends Ball and an Epic Sunday brunch. It was not an event. It was history in the making. As I write this, 12 of the legends are no longer with us. Oprah wanted these ladies to know, to hear and to feel how they were respected and loved and how their journey paved the way for the next generation. Mission accomplished.
